7 Upcoming Netflix Originals That’ll Suck (And 8 That Won’t)

It seems that every time I log in to Netflix, I’m bombarded
with new releases. As one of the biggest online streaming
hosting sites for television shows and movies, Netflix is
offering competitive programming at an affordable monthly cost.
To keep clients interested and to provide a unique
product, they’re continuously releasing Netflix Original
series that are only available to Netflix subscribers. With
over 25 million subscribers in the US alone, Netflix is
steadily attracting a more international clientele, with
streaming media available across North America, most parts of
Europe, and South America. The larger the client base, the
bigger the profits, and subsequently, the programming offered.

One of the biggest downfalls of Netflix is its overwhelmingly
large variety. Sometimes too much choice leads to
indecisiveness! We’ve all struggled through the Netflix blues,
wasting minutes (hours?) scrolling through different options,
only to end up discouraged and dissatisfied, so while we
appreciate more choices, we don’t always have the time to
sort through all the new releases! Good thing we have the
Internet. With dozens of new releases expected to air before
the end of summer, you might want to consult this list before
jumping in. Although we haven’t seen any of these yet, we can
tell you which ones we’re looking forward to and which seem
like flops. Save yourself the trouble of searching through all
these titles yourself and take a look at 7
Upcoming Netflix Shows That Will Suck (And 8 That
Won’t).

Let’s start with the ones to avoid.

15. Wet Hot American Summer: Ten Years
Later

Admittedly, I didn’t really get into the Wet Hot American
Summer
movie or its subsequent Netflix series prequel. As
much as I love comedies (not to mention almost all of the
actors in the show!), I found it a little too ridiculous to be
funny. The newest installment in the collection will take place
ten years after the film. According to writer Michael
Showalter, the newest series will take place in the camp
setting and also in New York City. Returning cast members
include Elizabeth Banks,
Bradley Cooper,
and Paul Rudd, while
newbies Alyssa Milano and
Mark Feuerstein
will make debuts. Although this franchise has been highly
acclaimed and well-received, it’s not going to make my list
because I didn’t enjoy the previous installments, and quite
frankly, I think this will suck, too!

14. Godless

Godless is a Netflix Original miniseries that’s
scheduled for release in 2017, although a fixed date for the
airing is pending confirmation. The Western miniseries features
a lead role played by Jeff Daniels and
has quite a strange premise. In the American West in the late
1800s, outlaw Frank Griffin (Daniels) is on a manhunt for his
ex-partner turned enemy, Roy Goode. The chase leads him
straight into a town called La Belle in New Mexico. This town
is strangely made up of only women. It’s later revealed that
all of the men were killed in a tragic mining accident.
Although I’m a huge fan of Jeff Daniels, I’m not convinced that
this show will be a hit! The good news? If it does suck as much
as it sounds like it will, we won’t have to worry about a
renewal. This series is being marketed as a limited 6-episode
series.

13. Mindhunter

Mindhunter is a series scheduled for release on
Netflix in October 2017. Based on the book of the same title,
the show will focus on two FBI agents in the 1970s who
interview imprisoned serial killers to try and solve murder
mysteries. While this all sounds promising and very “True
Detective,” I’m feeling like this will be a flop. I hate to be
biased, but I’m not a Charlize Theron
fan, and anything that she’s involved in (she’s executive
producer, along with David Fincher) is
a “nope” in my books. FBI and special agent/detective shows are
a dime a dozen these days, and it’s not always easy to find one
that delivers. Hopefully, lead actor Jonathan Groff (loved him
in Looking) can make this at least somewhat enjoyable,
but I’m not counting on it. I suspect that it will suck.

12. The Magic School Bus: Rides Again

I know that this show is obviously aimed at a younger audience,
but I remember the original, and I really think this is going
to be fit for the pit. Who needs a second round of one of the
most annoying programs that ever aired? I have memories of
turning the channel as soon as I heard the annoying theme song
play. Terrible! Netflix is really pushing the envelope with
some of their choices recently! Set to be released at the end
of this year, The Magic School Bus: Rides Again will
be based on the 1994 kids show but will have a new cast and
touch on more millennial subjects. For anyone that loves 90s
nostalgia, this is for you; otherwise, I would strongly
recommend you skip out on this. The 26-episode first season is
definitely going to suck, unless you’re 8.

11. Disjointed

I’m not a huge fan of
Chuck Lorre
shows to begin with, so I’m slightly biased
when it comes to any of his projects. Yes, I love
Kathy Bates
, but I do feel like the concept of this
show is a little much. Disjointed is the story of
Ruth Whitefeather Feldman, a pro-pot activist who opens up a
cannabis dispensary in L.A. Her son and a security guard are
the secondary characters who spend most of the show high out of
their minds. Although pot comedies can be hit or miss (we loved
Weeds), this Warner Bros. collaboration seems like
more of a marketing project than a quality program. Our
generation is enjoying more and more exposure to cannabis
culture, thanks to the ever-increasing lax attitude and legal
acceptance across many states and provinces. I still think this
will be a terrible show; it’s on the suck list.

10. Free Rein

I like horses quite a lot. I’ve always enjoyed visiting farms
that had horses, and I’ve gone riding a few times. But, there’s
something inherently boring and not engaging about horse TV
shows and movies. Free Rein, an upcoming Netflix
Original series set for release later this year, is no
different. It’s a coming of age story (of course) about Zoe, a
young teenage girl who spends a summer abroad at the Bright
Field Stables in England. As you can imagine, she meets a
horse, Raven, who changes her life forever. This done-before
inspirational drama might as well be condensed into an
hour-and-a-half “made for TV” movie. Do we really need another
full-length series about a girl and her horse friend?
Unfortunately, this isn’t going to make it to my “must watch”
list for upcoming Netflix releases.

9. Lost in Space

I won’t even pretend to be excited about this release, which I
will definitely not be tuning into. It’s a science fiction
series scheduled for release in 2018. A remake of a 1965
television show of the same name, this series is set in 2046
and tells the story of the Robinson family, a group of space
colonists, who have to deal with a new environment when their
spacecraft accidentally crashes into an unexpected planet.
Stuck lights years away from where they were heading, the
family have to overcome obstacles and personal problems.
Sounds… super duper boring? Yeah, I’m not going to be giving
this one a chance. I’m all for space stuff, but this just
doesn’t sound like it will be very good. Not to mention, I’ve
never heard of anyone in the cast list, so I don’t think this
will be a hit. Watch if you’re really into science fiction, but
otherwise, avoid!

Originals To Watch

8. Marvel’s The Defenders

The Defenders is set to be the final installment in a
5-part Marvel Cinematic Universe mini-series, that includes
Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and this year’s
Iron Fist. The final installment will showcase the
four heroes teaming up. Despite some changes to the original
Defenders comic strip, the modern street-smart twist
and quirky dialogue make for an entertaining watch. The
previous installments were extremely well-received and praised
for their originality and special effects. They’ve all been
renewed for second seasons (still waiting to hear if Iron
Fist
will be renewed, but more than likely, it will be!).
All four series have had ratings of over 90% on Rotten
Tomatoes; we have no doubt that The Defenders will be
just as good — or better — than its prequels. You might want to
add this to your calendar. The Defenders will be
available on August 18 and is sure to be a winner.

7. Marvel’s The Punisher

Netflix is really working the Marvel Cinematic Universe series
these past couple of years! With The Defenders coming
out on August 18 and wrapping up the 5-part collection, Marvel
fans will need something else to look forward to. Look no
further than The Punisher. Frank Castle (played by
Jon Bernthal) was
originally introduced to fans in Marvel’s Daredevil
and will now hit the screen in a full first season. His
performance was highly acclaimed, and fans are sure to tune in
to this newest installment in the Marvel Netflix series. The
series was created by Steve Lightfoot, and filming wrapped up
in April 2017. Although the concrete release date is not yet
confirmed, we’re expecting this to be available on Netflix
before the end of 2017. Stay tuned — this should be a good
one!

6. Gypsy

Here’s a show that looks super promising! Gypsy is a
psychological thriller that’s scheduled to air on Netflix as an
original series on June 30, 2017. The series, which features an
all-star cast (Naomi Watts and
Billy Crudup),
is expected to become this summer’s hit dramatic
show. Watts plays the lead role of Jean Holloway, a
therapist who enters into inappropriate romantic and physical
relationships with her patients. Billy Crudup plays the role of
her husband. The 10-episode first season is sure to be an
immediate classic. The series has a great plot,
fantastic actors, and a talented team of directors and
producers. Co-director Coky Giedroyc of Penny Dreadful
fame and executive producer Tim Bevan are just some of the
creative talents behind this show. We can’t wait to tune in to
Gypsy and see what is in store.

5. Glow

The idea of watching an entire series revolving around a
women’s wrestling organization might not seem promising, but I
think this might be a hit. With a great cast (Alison Brie plays
the lead role of Ruth Wilder, Marc Maron is the
wrestling coach) and a hilarious script, this might become an
instant hit. Set in the 1980s, the show follows the life and
times of Ruth, an aspiring actress who finds her calling when
she joins a women’s wrestling circuit, aptly named GLOW
(Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling). With executive producer
Jenji Kohan (of
Weeds and Orange is the New Black fame) on
board, we’re guaranteed to have an entertaining and quirky
comedy on our hands. The first season consists of 10 episodes
and will be released on June 23, 2017. Fingers crossed that
it’s as funny and addictive as OITNB!

4. Joshua: Teenager Vs. Superpower

Joshua: Teenager Vs. Superpower is an upcoming Netflix
Original Documentary.  At the tender age of fourteen,
Joshua Wong became a sensational activist in the face of a
changing government in his native Hong Kong. When the Chinese
Communist Party didn’t follow through on promises made to keep
Hong Kong an autonomous state, Wong took to the scene
and led thousands to protest. As a powerful voice for both
the young and the oppressed, Wong quickly garnered a huge
support group. The story is inspiring and powerful, proof that
speaking out can actually make a difference, no matter your
age. This documentary is sure to broaden your interest in Asian
politics and shed light on what the political status is in
China and Hong Kong. The special is available as of May 26,
2017.

3. Alias Grace

Alias Grace is a 2017 CBC production that will
air on Netflix later in the fall as an International
miniseries. It’s based on the 1996 Margaret Atwood novel of the
same name, which is, in turn, based on the real-life story of
Grace Marks, an Irish citizen who immigrated to Canada to work
as a housemaid. In 1843, she was convicted of murdering her
boss, Thomas Kinnear, and suspected of killing his housekeeper,
Nancy Montgomery. After serving thirty years incarcerated, she
was released from prison. She moved to New York and was never
heard from again. The screenplay was adapted by famed Canadian
Sarah Polley, and the talented cast includes Canadian
actresses Sarah Gadon and Anna Paquin. The
historical mystery is expected to please crowds, especially
those who appreciate unsolved crimes.

2. Maniac

Not a whole lot of information has been released about the 2018
Netflix series release, Maniac. Having said that, what
we do know about it, we like. We like a lot. First of all, it
stars two of the best and funniest talents in Hollywood, today,
Emma Stone and
Jonah Hill. It’s
a dark comedy based on a previously released Norwegian series
of the same name. The plot focuses on a patient in
a psychiatric ward (Hill). In his delusional
mind, he’s created a fantasy world where he’s a heroic,
loved, and respected character. In real life, he spends his
days highly medicated, locked up in a facility for the
mentally ill. The adventures he takes part in are fabrications
of his imagination, but does it really matter when you’re
enjoying your reality so much? Unfortunately, we have to wait
until 2018 for this release, but it’s sure to be a total hit.
Stay tuned.

1. Ozark

Ozark is an upcoming Netflix release featuring
directing and acting legend Jason Bateman.
The series will include ten one-hour episodes, half of those
directed by Bateman. He plays Marty Byrde, a financial planner
who moves from Chicago to a community in the Missouri Ozarks,
with his wife, played by actress Laura Linney.
Byrde has to pay off a debt to a Mexican drug lord, a dramatic
narrative that’s sure to be humorous and intense. We’ve seen
Bateman in predominantly comical roles, so his shift to a
dramatic saga will be welcome. The show is being produced by
Media Rights Capital and Aggregate Films, and writer/director
Bill Dubuque is leading the project. This is definitely on our
list of shows to binge watch as soon as Netflix officially
releases the series. It’s expected to be available by late
2017.

15 Onscreen BFFs Who Didn’t Like Each Other Off-Set

At least one time in our lives, all of us have had a coworker
whom we couldn’t stand to work with. Most of us are lucky
enough to have bosses that we can ask to not schedule us
together or request to have a work environment where we can
avoid that person as much as possible. But what if it was your
job to pretend that the coworker you absolutely can’t stand is
actually your greatest friend in the entire world? For many of
our favorite on-screen BFFs, this is definitely the case!

It’s important that two actors playing the roles of friends
should appear to have great chemistry so as to make the
audience believe they have a great relationship and create a
realistic scene that we actually have the desire to watch. Some
actors, however, have the extra obstacle of overcoming a heated
feud between their closest costar! In our lifetime, we’ve all
had a favorite onscreen BFF duo who seemed so close and
perfect, they made us question our own friendships. We have to
remember, however, that many times, these actors are doing
exactly that: acting! Sometimes onscreen friends are real
friends off-screen as well, but in other cases, their feuds
could be so bad that it could end or almost end a show, or at
least their roles on the series or movie!

Do you think you would be able to play nice with your most
hated coworker? Maybe you already are! Let us know which duo
shocks you the most! Here are 15 Onscreen BFFs That Can’t
Stand Each Other In Real Life:

15. Sarah Michelle Gellar And Alyson
Hannigan On Buffy

Sarah Michelle
Gellar
and Alyson Hannigan
are some of our favorite stars from the nineties, so it hurts
to find out that the two actually had some difficulty getting
along. Everything was smooth sailing for the first couple of
seasons on the show; however, once the two started to get more
fame from the various movies they starred in as well as having
crazier shooting schedules, things went downhill. The two claim
that their fights and feuds came from the stress of being
overworked and having to do late night shoots. The biggest
fight came when Sarah Michelle Gellar announced her departure
from the show on a magazine cover before ever telling any of
her costars. Imagine finding out from a magazine cover and not
the actual person that you’re basically losing your job because
your coworker is quitting! Since all the drama on the show, the
two have rekindled their friendship. That’s probably not hard
when sitting on a huge pile of vampire slayer money.

14. Kenny Baker And Anthony Daniels In
Star Wars

Anthony Daniels
and Kenny Baker were the two men behind our favorite droids,
C-3PO and R2-D2, in the Star Wars Franchise. The two
have their onscreen bickering, but for the most part, they’re a
pretty good duo who make it apparent they look out for each
other. In reality, their relationship was much darker. Anthony
Daniels was apparently constantly and incredibly rude to Kenny
Baker to the point of being called a bully. Kenny Baker would
give him some heat back, but the stuff Anthony Daniels said to
Baker before is enough to make us cringe. Kenny Baker is a
little person, and Anthony Daniels would cut deep and sometimes
refer to him as “little man,” constantly looking down on Baker
and mocking him because of his disability. He even referred to
him at one point as “nothing more than a bucket!” It’s clear
that Daniels had some issues and was taking it out on Baker,
but it’ll still be hard to re-watch the movies without thinking
of this feud.

13. Kim Cattrall And Sarah Jessica
Parker On Sex And The City

Even though the two played a role in a group of four best
friends, Samantha and Carrie were probably our favorite duo
from the long-running HBO series. The two had some of the best
chemistry on the show and are probably the most memorable
characters. In reality, all four of the women were pretty close
friends, that is, until Kim Cattrall
asked SJP to help her
get a raise! Even though they were making millions on the
series, Kim still felt it wasn’t fair that SJP was making more
money than the rest of the cast. SJP refused to help the
situation, putting a pretty big wedge in their friendship. Some
rumors also state that SJP was actually jealous of Kim’s
character, wishing Carrie was more of a Samantha. The feud was
so bad Kim almost didn’t come back for the movies; however, the
two have since worked out their problems and are civil enough
to at least work together.

12. Charlie Sheen And Selma Blair On
Anger Management

Charlie Sheen has
never been an actor about whom we would think, “Oh yeah, he’s
probably easy to work with,” but his feud with his co-star,
Selma Blair,
might be the biggest one of all. Apparently, the two had some
trouble getting along on set, and Selma referenced this in an
interview without saying anything too harsh. Well, Sheen
doesn’t take criticism very well and decided to fire Selma for
what she had said. He even did it in a text and also called her
the “C” word! He claims that their feuding had nothing to do
with anything she said about him to anyone and that he wanted
to write her off the show because it would make his character
more interesting. Seems pretty coincidental that he would fire
her at the same time she badmouthed him to the public, though.
She even threatened to file a lawsuit, but both have moved on
since.

11. Alyssa Milano And Shannen Doherty On
Charmed

Sometimes, in real life, our best friends also double as our
siblings. The same can be said for the characters, who also
happened to be witches, played by Shannen Doherty
and Alyssa Milano.
The two had so much trouble getting along that Shannen actually
ended up leaving the show. It was stated that she was fired;
however, she states that she wanted to be freed from her
contract to move on to other projects. The unfortunate reality
is that this wasn’t Shannen’s first time being fired from a
show she starred on. Holly
Marie-Combs
, the other witch in the trio, was friends with
Shannen before the show, so it created a bit of a clique when
Milano joined the cast. Milano often described her experience
on the series as being like she was back in high school even
though the women were in their thirties.

10. Betty White And Bea Arthur On Golden
Girls

It’s hard to imagine anyone fighting with Betty White or
even disliking her in the slightest. That’s especially true for
her and a costar who worked together on a show all about their
friendship together and with two other women! Unfortunately,
Betty White and her costar Bea Arthur didn’t get along in real
life as well as they did behind the camera! Betty White has not
been shy in discussing this feud either. Betty claims that Bea
absolutely hated her positive energy and would sometimes get
annoyed and angry if Betty was simply in a good mood. Those
close to Bea claim that this was the way that she was and that
she wasn’t far from her character in real life. Bea was also a
bit jealous of Betty’s fame and recognition, which could
definitely cause some resentment. The two remained civil
throughout the show, but knowing they didn’t get along in real
life puts a little bit of a bad taste in our mouths when
watching the series.

9. Emily Osment And Miley Cyrus On
Hannah Montana

Miley Cyrus is
not shy to celebrity feuds, but her fights with costar Emily Osment
might be some of the most surprising to us. Apparently, the two
had a lot of difficulties when shooting the series that got
them both famous together. Miley talked a lot in interviews
about how she desired to have a real off-screen relationship
with Emily in order to make their characters more realistic,
but the two had challenges in trying to make it real. They
often argued on set and would sometimes subtweet about each
other. When working with young actors, it’s not uncommon for
them to carry some jealousy or resentment that leads to them
being unable to get along. Since the wrap of the show, both
claim that their relationship is fine and have even been seen
together reunited several times. The two aren’t real life BFFs,
but they’ve improved since fighting once the cameras switched
off.

8. Lauren Graham And Scott Patterson On
Gilmore Girls

One of the most iconic “Will they or won’t they?” romances has
to be the one played by Lauren Graham and
Scott Patterson on the long-running Gilmore Girls. The
two teased at a romance season after season, all the while
remaining best friends on the popular series. In reality,
however, the two had trouble being in the same room together.
Apparently, Scott Patterson is not the easiest guy to work
with, and Lauren even stated that she had wished she had
actually ended up with Rory’s dad at the end of the show! When
asked by reporters if she and Scott were even friends, Lauren
had no problem simply saying no. They didn’t ask if they were
best friends or lovers, just simply friends, and she still said
no! It says a lot about their relationship that after years and
years of working long days together that they can’t even call
themselves friends.

7. Isaiah Washington And Patrick
Dempsey On Grey’s Anatomy

Isaiah Washington
and Patrick Dempsey
have often been referred to as heartthrobs by the fans of the
show; however, they saw each other as enemies during the
filming of the series. Apparently, the two often fought and
found trouble getting along, so much so that they actually got
into a physical altercation while on set! During the fist
fight, Washington also referred to one of his other costars,
T.R. Knight, as
the “f” word, a derogatory slur for homosexuals. The
altercation, as well as the hate speech, actually got Isaiah in
a ton of trouble, though he denied ever saying something so
terrible. He left the show to seek help for his anger
management. The show is one that lost characters often due to
various deaths and other reasons, but this one was a bit more
dramatic as it had a real life feud behind it all.

6. Victoria Justice And Ariana Grande
On Victorious

Before Ariana Grande was
famous for her sexually explicit music, she was just another
costar involved in a feud on the series that got her famous.
Apparently, in an interview, she claimed that she was being
bullied by the cast of the show, with Victoria Justice
assumed to be the biggest bully of them all. Since the
interview hit magazine racks around the world, the two
have claimed that nothing actually happened between them and
that they get along just fine. Of course, when trying to build
an image and a million-dollar brand, this is the thing to say.
However, once a seed gets planted, it’s hard to stop wondering
what the truth of the situation is. Ariana seems to be a sweet
girl, so feuding with someone doesn’t seem to be her thing;
however, it seems likely that teenage girls fighting for fame
would run into some issues while working long hours
together.

5. Mariah Carey And Nicki Minaj On
American Idol

If you had to think of two of the biggest divas in Hollywood,
Mariah and
Nicki would
probably pop into your head at some point. There’s nothing
wrong with being a diva; they’re just two independent,
successful women who know how talented and powerful they are in
the music industry. However, if you put these two in a small
room and tell them to do nothing but judge pop star wannabes
and discuss what they know best, you can’t expect them to get
along perfectly, right? Apparently, Mariah spent a lot of her
time making passive aggressive jabs at Nicki to the point that
Nicki had an explosive rant leaked to the press following a
fight with Mariah. Some claim she threatened Mariah with gun
violence; however, Nicki has denied these claims. During the
filming of the show, the two acted civil, even though they were
playing themselves. When the camera was off, however, who knows
what claws actually came out?

4. Blake Lively And Leighton Meester On
Gossip Girl

Blake Lively and
Leighton Meester
were two of the most popular actresses during the time of their
run on Gossip Girl. The two were best friend goals for
a while; however, in reality, they absolutely hated each other.
They both seemed to have started off completely fine when
filming first happened, and they actually were best friends in
real life. However, as the show continued, the two drifted
apart and began fighting on set. Many rumors have circulated
about what went down between the two, but for the most part,
the two deny ever having trouble getting along during shooting.
Hollywood is full of gossip, and you’d expect even more for a
show so involved in pop culture and even has “gossip” in its
name. However, not all rumors just appear out of nowhere. The
two have been known to avoid each other in public and at award
shows, so their claims nothing went down are clearly just
cover-ups.

3. Gillian Anderson And David Duchovny
On X-Files

If there was a duo in the world that we would have to pick as
our favorite BFFs of all time, Scully and Mulder would
definitely be in the top five. Unfortunately, in real life,
they don’t get along as well as their onscreen characters do.
Apparently, when the filming of the show first started,
everything was fine. As time went on, the two began to argue
more and found difficulty in getting along. Neither denied
rumors that there was tension between the two and discussed the
difficulty in working with someone so closely for so long.
However, toward the end of the series and since the wrap of the
show, these two became close again, mended whatever issues they
had in their relationship, and continue to remain close friends
to this day. The only thing we still have a problem with is our
curiosity as to whether or not their relationship has ever gone
past being just friends…

2. Will Smith And Janet Hubert On Fresh
Prince

If you asked a lot of people whom they might want as their own
best friend, Will Smith might
be a popular choice among many fans. He seems like a pretty
friendly person and would not be someone we expect to be
involved in a feud with any of his costars. However, he found
himself in a nasty battle with the original Aunt Viv, Janet
Hubert. The two interacted so badly that she actually left the
show and was replaced by a completely different actress! Of
course, just switching an actress is hard, so the show briefly
mentioned it and stated she had just gotten a serious makeover.
Janet and Will disagreed a lot, and to this day, Janet still
refers to Will as an “a**hole.” Will has been in countless
productions as an actor, musician, and producer, and for the
most part, Hubert is the only one to have much bad to say.

1. Courteney Cox And Jennifer
Aniston On Friends

Monica and Rachel were probably the closest duos that we saw
throughout the entire series on Friends. They had
amazing chemistry and never once made us question whether or
not they were truly friends off screen. At one point, however,
they actually had some pretty serious issues. Courteney Cox
struggled on the show a bit with wanting to get more
recognition and desired her character to be a bit more like
Rachel. She was jealous of the attention Jennifer got
for her famous hairstyle and wished to have more interesting
styles like Rachel. The two definitely had their fights and
feuds, but the happy ending is that it only made them stronger.
Out of all the BFFs on the list, these two definitely remain
among the closest on the list, backing each other up on
tabloids and attending major life events together. All friends
have fights, and luckily for us and our love for the show,
these two never let anything get in their way.

15 Celebs Who Try So Hard To Look Hot It’s Pathetic

If there’s one thing that can make a totally hot woman look
ugly, it’s when she tries too hard to look hot. One would think
that really famous and super hot celebrities would be above
that kind of thing, that they would just be comfortable with
how hot they look and not try too hard, but in a lot of cases,
you would be totally wrong.  Many celebrities that are
thought of as being really hot, spend much of their days trying
desperately to look hot in their selfies for social media. And
guess what? It comes off as totally pathetic. The funniest part
is knowing that they probably took around 90 selfies just to
come up with one that they think looks hot so that some chick
that works at Walmart in Arkansas will think they’re super
cool.

Are these celebrities really this shallow? Are they really this
immature? Are they really this desperate to look hot? Do they
really fail at looking hot to everyone that’s over the age of
15 and has an IQ over 90?  The answers to all of the above
are yes. There are a lot of offenders out there; I literally
could have found 100 celebrities throwing up totally ridiculous
selfies on their Instagram, but these 15 are those I consider
to be the worst offenders.

They think they look hot, but they’re trying way too hard. Yes,
we see you, and you all look dumb.

15. Jessica Simpson

Occasionally, this whole phenomenon sucks someone in who
usually is just totally natural and doesn’t try all that hard
to be hot. A good example of this is Jessica Simpson.
Most photos of her are just all casual, and she always looks
great in those. In this photo, though, the opposite is going
on. Jessica is sucking in her cheeks, as well as her gut, in a
desperate attempt to look smoking hot for a bunch of people
that she doesn’t even know. Jessica, here is a pro tip from me
to you: people like you because you’re a natural beauty, not
because you’re some dub like Kim Kardashian making duck faces
into a bathroom mirror. Do us all a favor and just do you. The
thing is, you look a lot better when you’re not trying too
hard.

14. Selena Gomez

This is an absolutely perfect example of what I’m talking
about. Here you have Selena looking as
sexy as she possibly can, looking into the camera and making a
totally hot face. The thing is, though, how hot is that face
when you know she’s just making it to try and look hot and that
she’s being totally fake about the whole thing? For all we
know, she has a quarter pounder with cheese and a large order
of fries sitting on her lap. The whole thing is so fake, it’s
ridiculous. Can’t you just picture Selena sitting there all by
herself looking into the camera on her phone and making a bunch
of sexy faces, taking all sorts of photos until she finds the
perfect one? Yeah, all of a sudden, it isn’t so hot, is it?

13. Ariel Winter

Ariel Winter is
one of the worst offenders. She started off as this nerdy kid
who supposedly has some body image problems, so to combat that,
she started posting photos of herself wearing no clothes as
often as she could. See how that works? Me neither. But this is
a good example of how she rolls: she puts up a photo that’s
supposed to show her being like “hmm, does this suit look good
on me?” But what she’s really saying is “Hey, can you say
something nice about my body, please?” It’s like we aren’t
supposed to comment on her body even when she keeps posting
photos of her body. It’s like a Jedi mind trick. One trick that
no one is falling for, however, is that Ariel isn’t trying too
hard. I’m sure she wakes up in the morning thinking about
selfies.

12. Vanessa Hudgens

Vanessa Hudgens
always tries way too hard in selfies. A post from TeenVogue
talks about what a great selfie Vanessa took of her hair: “It
was basically the most perfect version of a hair selfie, so we
took notes on how it’s done. First, she found a great lighting
source and let it bathe her mane in a sunny glow.” So you see
how this works? Vanessa takes a selfie of her hair, and then a
website writes a story about what a good job she did taking the
selfie. Hang on a second; I’ll be right back. I think I need to
go throw up. If making fun of people who try too hard to be hot
while they’re taking selfies is wrong, then I don’t want to be
right. Give it a rest, Vanessa. No one cares.

11. Cash Me Ousside Girl

This is one of the unfortunate byproducts of all sorts of dumb
celebrities desperately trying to look hot while taking
selfies: you have a bunch of dumb people who are trying to be
celebrities by imitating them. One simply cannot come up with a
better example of this than the Cash Me Ousside girl. Pretty
soon, we don’t have to worry about her as she will almost
certainly wind up in a juvenile detention facility soon, but
until then, this little wannabe is taking all sorts of
duck-faced selfies to try and look cool. The saddest part of
the whole situation is that she doesn’t even look worse than
all the people that she’s imitating — except for those totally
awful eyebrows. What in world is she thinking? She looks
awful.

10. Paris Hilton

Paris Hilton is
the queen of trying too hard. With her, it’s all kind of
relative because she’s actually made a career of trying too
hard. It isn’t like she’s famous for anything but being this
relatively hot chick who makes a bunch of hot faces into the
camera. She’s someone that pretended to be a star for so long
that she actually became a star. For those of you thinking of
trying this routine at home, don’t bother. It only works if
you’re incredibly rich, and I assume if you were rich, you
would be getting your nails done or buying something, not
reading this article.  No matter how you slice it, Paris
spends a lot of time trying to impress people and look hot,
which obviously makes her not impressive and not that hot. See
how that works?

9. Ariana Grande

With the recent tragedy in Manchester, I feel bad for including
Ariana Grande on
this list, but she’s such a constant offender, it’s kind of
impossible not to do so. Using a duck face while taking selfies
has almost become a cliche because it happens so much, but it’s
a cliche for a reason: mainly because women like Ariana do it
so darn much, and by that, I mean all the time. Do you think
she goes anywhere without snapping photos of herself making
faces like this? Do you think she’s able to go an entire day
even without taking a selfie of herself? I doubt it. Because
when you’re Ariana Grande, being hot is important, and part of
being hot is trying super hard to take hot photos of
yourself.

8. Lea Michele

Lea Michele is
one of the worst offenders around when it comes to trying too
hard. She’s constantly uploading selfies to her social media
that involve her body, including a whole bunch of her butt.
This is an entirely different class of selfies, one where it
seems she actually sets up a camera and then turns around to
try and get a candid shot of how her butt looks. Can you
imagine this being your life? Spending time each day taking
photos of your body and your butt so a whole bunch of people
that you don’t know can see it and think about how hot you are?
When I put it that way, it sounds kind of pathetic,
doesn’t it? You know why that is? Because it’s actually
pathetic. Lea Michele tries way too hard.

7. Miranda Kerr

Miranda Kerr is a
super hot model. You know the only thing that makes her less
hot? Trying way too hard. Check out what news.com.au had to say
about her: “She’s a world famous supermodel with looks to die
for, so who can blame her for taking so many pics of herself?
Miranda Kerr was pictured on a selfie spree at the Louis
Vuitton ready-to-wear show at Paris Fashion Week. The Aussie
model was seemingly keen to document her every move.” So let’s
get this straight for a minute: she’s a model at a Paris
fashion show, and she’s walking around taking a ton of pictures
of herself. How lame is that? Maybe she could hire someone to
just walk around in front of her holding up a mirror so she
could just look at herself constantly.

6. Heidi Klum

Okay, so there’s no doubt that Heidi Klum is a
beautiful woman, and even more so when you consider that she’s
43 years old. She still looks smoking; that’s for certain. So
why not age gracefully? Why try so hard? She’s well known for
putting up body selfies on social media, including one with a
smiley face made of shells and sand on her near naked body.
Does her body look good in the shot? Yes, it does. Does it make
it less hot knowing that a woman in her 40s planned out this
photo so millions of people would look at it and think she
looks hot? Yeah, it makes it way less hot. Heidi, at your age,
do you really want to be included in a post with all these much
younger and honestly much dumber women? No? Then knock it
off.

5. Kim Kardashian

Kim Kardashian
fits into the Paris Hilton mold of this article. In fact, she
started off as Paris Hilton’s lap dog and then ended up moving
past her in the race for “most famous hot chick who’s also
pretty dumb.” It’s hard to even guess how many selfies Kim has
taken throughout her life, but I can tell you one thing: I’m
sure she’s taken about a hundred times more photos of herself
than she’s ever posted on social media. This, of course, is
totally pathetic. Back in the old days, if you were hot and
famous, people took photos of you. Now, there are a whole bunch
of dubs out there like Kim taking photos of themselves
trying to look hot. It’s pathetic. Thankfully,
Kim’s moment in the sun is fading; soon, she’ll be gone for
good.

4. Kylie Jenner

Kylie Jenner
tries too hard, without a doubt. Need proof? Just check out
what Eonline reported about her: “Kylie Jenner broke the
event’s ‘no selfie’ rule (though she was hardly the only one)
to get her ‘annual bathroom selfie’ at the Metropolitan Museum
of Art in New York City Monday. The social media star, who
modeled a curve-hugging Versace dress and Lorraine Schwartz
jewels, recruited quite a crew for her impromptu photo shoot.”
Oh wow, Kylie. So you went to a big event at the Metropolitan
Museum of Art, and you took a totally awesome selfie with a
bunch of other people in the bathroom. Are you trying to prove
that you’re an incredibly shallow person? Because you’re doing
a really good job of it if you are.

3. Kendall Jenner

Most of Kendall Jenner‘s
selfies are kind of the whole “The Emperor Wears No Clothes”
thing. It’s like you’re supposed to think that she looks really
hot, and you’re supposed to say to other people that she looks
hot, and of course, she thinks she looks hot, but what is the
reality really? Well, the reality actually is that most of the
time, Kendall Jenner looks totally ridiculous in her selfies.
Is she a beautiful woman? Of course she is. Do most of her
selfies look like what would happen if you put a ton of makeup
on a duck and forced it to take a bunch of quaaludes? Yes,
indeed. Kendall, I have something to tell you that apparently
your close friends and family won’t: you look really stupid in
most of your selfies.

2. Miley Cyrus

Miley Cyrus is
pretty much known for trying too hard. If you look up those
words in the dictionary, I’m pretty sure that her picture comes
up next to them. Her selfies are mostly awful, as a case in
point, here’s one of her where she’s putting on a totally sexy
face while at the same time sitting on the toilet. Yeah, Miley…
I’m sure you’re going number 1 and not number 2, but still,
maybe just wait until you get off the crapper before you start
trying to look hot. At the same time, no one has ever accused
Miley Cyrus of having good judgment, and like some others on
this list, the fact that she tries too hard and is a complete
trainwreck is in part why she’s so famous in the first
place.

1. Nicki Minaj

Poor Nicki Minaj. She
takes awful selfies. Nicki, do you really think that just
because you’re sucking in your cheeks all the time that it
makes your face look skinnier? Well, I guess it does, actually,
but it also does a couple of other things. It makes you look
really crazy, and it also makes it obvious how hard you’re
trying to look hot. Is this really what it’s about for some of
these super famous celebrities? Are they really just totally
insecure and constantly trying to look cool for their fans?
Maybe so, and, in reality, while it might be kind of sad to
think about, it’s probably why a lot of these women are famous
in the first place. They so badly want us to think they’re hot
that sometimes, some of us actually fall for it.

15 Hottest Actresses In Hollywood Today

If you ask most people, they would likely tell you that the
crown jewel in the entertainment industry is to be a big movie
star. Sure, television is more respected than ever before,
video games are an art form that is being recognized more and
more, and music is the soundtrack of our lives; but movies
still reign supreme. That is probably why there are more people
trying to play even small roles in major movies today than
could easily be counted. As a result of that, the competition
to gain the attention of casting agents is extremely fierce and
only the pick of the litter manage to rise above.

While acting skill is a very important trait if you want to
make it to the tip top of the acting world, there is no doubt
that looks also play a massive role. If you question that at
all, then you need look no further than the posters at your
local theater as they will inevitably feature some of the most
attractive people in the world. As such, it is more evident
today than ever before that being a hottie is of huge
importance to the career of an actress that wants to be a big
movie star. Realizing that and how much we enjoy the female
form is what inspired us to put together this list of the
fifteen hottest actresses in Hollywood today.

In order for an actress to be considered for inclusion here,
they first off need to have played a notable role in at least
one major movie production. For our purposes, Hollywood is a
grab-all for the American movie industry so that means that the
actress also needs to have made a notable appearance in a movie
produced by an American studio. Aside from that, our only
priority was bringing to you a list of the hottest actresses
around.

15. Amber Heard

From the first moment you see
Amber Heard
on the movie screen, it seems abundantly clear
that she has the looks and the “it” factor to be one of the
most famous actors of her generation. While she has yet to
reach heights like that, she has managed to play parts in
movies like All the Boys Love Mandy Lane, Never
Back Down
, Pineapple Express,
Zombieland, The Rum Diary, and more. Set to
appear in the upcoming film, Justice League, if the
movie does half as much for her as playing Harley did for
Margot Robbie, it could easily be the role that punches her
career through. A stunning woman with a body that doesn’t seem
to have a single extra pound on it, she seems to be the very
definition of a hot woman.

14. Gal Gadot

Only a few years ago,
Gal Gadot
was mostly known in North America for playing
Gisele Yashar in the Fast and Furious franchise. But
then, she was cast as Wonder Woman and everything changed for
her. Initially, her casting was met with a great deal of
skepticism and even anger. But once Batman v Superman: Dawn
of Justice
came out, the response from fans was markedly
different. Nearly universally hailed as one of the best
elements of the movies, fans couldn’t wait to see more of her
and thankfully, they didn’t have to wait any longer. Set to
return as the character in two films in 2017, Wonder
Woman
and Justice League, the DC Extended
Universe is betting on her big time and from where we’re
sitting, it seems like a great move. Also cast in the movie
Keeping Up with the Joneses, she played a secret agent
who appears in lingerie in one scene and in a second, she
proved exactly why she deserves to appear on any list like
this.

13. Kate Beckinsale

A British actress that is best known these days for her work in
action movies, including the Underworld franchise of
films as well as Total Recall and Van
Helsing
,
Kate Beckinsale
has been in a variety of films. For
instance, she was in a comedy like Click, dramas like
Brokedown Palace and The Last Days of Disco,
and romances like Serendipity and Love &
Friendship
. Forty-three years old at the time of this
writing, she has a body that women half her age would love to
have and about as beautiful a face as we have ever seen. On top
of that, whenever she is interviewed she comes off as poised
and kindhearted which makes her far more attractive in our
eyes.

12. Blake Lively

Made a star overnight when she was cast as Serena van der
Woodsen in the teen drama series Gossip Girl,
Blake Lively
brought some serious s*x appeal to the series.
A show that never shied away from courting controversy, it
featured several sensual moments that few have seen on TV in
the past and gave fans even more of a reason to fall for her
feminine wiles. Also a movie star in her own right, she has
appeared in movies like Accepted, The Town,
Green Lantern, Savages, and several others.
On top of those films, Blake received a level of critical
praise she had never known for her work in the shark movie
The Shallows. A tense film, fortunately, viewers could
take a small amount of solace in the opportunity to see her in
a bikini which is something that we always enjoy. A blonde
bombshell that seems as though she would have been entirely at
home in the Hollywood of the past, she has “s*x symbol” written
all over her due to her buxom body.

11. Scarlett Johansson

Probably the most in-demand actress in all of Hollywood today,
it seems as though there isn’t a single role for a woman in her
age range that
Scarlett Johansson
isn’t the top pick for. Starring in the
Marvel Cinematic Universe as The Black Widow, she has
yet to get her own standalone movie but has played a pivotal
part in many of the most important movies in the franchise.
Also the star of movies like The Prestige,
Her, Lucy, The Jungle Book,
Ghost in the Shell, Under the Skin, and many
more, she has undoubtedly made a mark on the film world that
will never be forgotten. Named the sexiest woman alive by
Esquire Magazine in 2013, this blonde with a bountiful chest
looks amazing in either a dress or everyday clothes.

10. Eva Mendes

First coming to the attention of many people with her
appearance in Training Day,
Eva Mendes
has already appeared in movies like Urban
Legends: Final Cut
by then. With her newfound fame and
popularity, however, she was able to land far more meaty roles
and became a movie star as a result. Appearing in movies like
2 Fast 2 Furious, Hitch, Ghost
Rider
, We Own the Night, The Other Guys,
The Place Beyond the Pines, and many more, she spent
years as part of major movies each year. While she has taken a
bit of a backseat over the last few years, due to giving birth
to two children fathered by her partner, Ryan
Gosling
, there is no doubt she could make a comeback at any
moment, so we’re counting her. An exquisite beauty who has
proven in the past that she takes great pride in her body,
based on every glimpse we’ve ever received, there is good
reason for that and we had to include her here.

9. Nina Dobrev

Nina Dobrev
has yet to become a household name but she has
been able to garner a massive following by starring in the show
The Vampire Diaries, which lasted an impressive eight
seasons. Cast in one of the series’ most important roles, it
was the romance she shared onscreen and in real life with

Ian Somerhalder
that made so many people fall for her.
Going on to appear in movies like Let’s Be Cops,
The Perks of Being a Wallflower, The Final
Girls
, and xXx: Return of Xander Cage, she is
also set to star in a remake of the film Flatliners
later this year. A beautiful brunette with a glowing
personality that comes across onscreen, she has shown herself
to have a real presence on the screen. Also blessed with a
mind-blowing body, if you have ever seen images of her in a
bikini, then you will know that she is an incredibly fit
woman.

8. Mary Elizabeth Winstead

Starting out her career as a scream queen of sorts, Mary
Elizabeth Winstead appeared in movies like Final
Destination 3
, Black Christmas, Death
Proof
, The Thing, and several other horror films.
Also known for her parts in the Die Hard franchise as
John McClane’s daughter, 10 Cloverfield Lane, Sky
High
, and Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, among
others, she is radiant in virtually every role. Currently
playing a role in the third season of Fargo, one of
the best series on all of television, in our opinion, she
brings a great deal of beauty to a show that goes for realism
and style. One of the most charming and elegant actresses in
the acting world as we see it, she carries herself like someone
who knows she is the hottest person in any room she walks into
but doesn’t depend on that.

7. Alexandra Daddario

Formerly a guest star in a number of shows and a supporting
actor in movies like The Squid and the Whale,
Alexandra Daddario
made a major leap forward when she was
cast in the Percy Jackson movies. Still, despite
receiving some fans that took note of her work in those movies
and a few others, she didn’t become a true star yet. Then, she
was cast in the first season of True Detective and
when she appeared in the nude during a memorable moment, the
world stood up and took note. Now set to appear in four films
in 2017, including Baywatch, alongside
The Rock
, and another that is already announced for 2018,
it is clear that her career has reached another level.
Possessing one of the sexiest figures we’ve ever seen captured
on film, there is a good reason why audiences want to see as
much of her as possible going forward.

6. Margot Robbie

One of the fastest rising stars we’ve ever seen in the movie
world,
Margot Robbie
is an Australian actress who started out
in television and the criminally underrated movie About
Time
. Then, she was cast in the 2013
Martin Scorsese
movie, The Wolf of Wall
Street,
and she seemed to become a star overnight, due in
part to a memorable nude scene of her own. Proving herself
capable of holding her own with the likes of
Leonardo DiCaprio
with her breakout role, clearly,
Hollywood took note as she has since starred alongside the
likes of
Will Smith
,
Tina Fey
, and
Samuel L. Jackson
. Now most synonymous with her role as
Harley Quinn, one of the most universally loved elements of the
DCEU, she seems poised to become an even bigger star still
going forward. A blonde beauty that has charisma oozing from
her pores, she is also able to portray insanity to the hottest
level but still make you wish you could spend just one night
with her despite the danger to yourself.

5. Charlize Theron

The second actress on this list that was named the sexiest
woman alive by Esquire Magazine. That came in 2007 for

Charlize Theron
. And if you ask us, she has managed to
become sexier in the intervening decade. Proving herself to not
only be a marvelous actress in movies like Monster and
The Cider House Rules, she has also become one of the
biggest action stars around after Mad Max: Fury Road.
A statuesque blonde with a slender and sexy figure, she isn’t
the curviest woman on this list but she has proven time and
time again that she is at the top of the Hollywood hottie
heap.

4. Ana De Armas

For those of you that are not aware of the Cuban actress, Ana
De Armas, yet, don’t worry because you are likely to become
more aware of her as time goes on. First making waves in North
America when she was cast as one-half of a pair of young women
that terrorize a character played by
Keanu Reeves
in Knock Knock, the movie relied
heavily on her looks. Since she has appeared in several major
movies, including Hand of Stone and War
Dogs,
she has her biggest role yet on the horizon.
Set to play Joi in Blade Runner 2049, her performance
in one of the most anticipated movies of the year, in a very
major role no less, is likely to make her a well-known entity.
A sultry woman that looks as though she is supremely confident
and knows exactly what she wants in bed, there is little in
this world that is sexier than that.

3. Morena Baccarin

If there is one thing that we know in the world of pop culture,
it is this: one of the most beloved sci-fi series of all time
is Firefly and starring in it was a sure fire way of
gaining fans that are intensely loyal.
Morena Baccarin
has enjoyed the fruits of that labor ever
since she played Inara Serra on that series. But if she hadn’t,
we believe that she would have become a star anyhow. Memorable
for other television roles, Jessica Brody in Homeland
and Leslie Thompkins in Gotham, these days, it is a
movie role, however, that she is best known for. Cast as
Vanessa in the film Deadpool, she likely had no idea
how big of a movie that would turn out to be for her. Playing a
woman that is capable of holding her own with a mercenary like
Wade Wilson in the movie, she brings a level of swagger to her
performance that made audiences swoon with delight.

2. Gemma Arterton

Ever since the 1990’s, the James Bond franchise
has made a big comeback, so are is the tradition of beautiful
women who have played major parts in it. But during that
decade, they relied on people that were stars. When
Gemma Arterton
was cast as a Bond girl in the movie
Quantum of Solace, however, her performance was
eye-grabbing enough to turn her into a star instead of the
other way around. Capitalizing on that opportunity, she would
receive roles in movies like Clash of the Titans,
Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, and several
others that took full advantage of her looks. A woman that is
absolutely alluring and rather very ethereal even when dressed
in clothing that could make someone else look innocent, she is
skilled in the art of seduction onscreen.

1. Eva Green

From one Bond girl to another. We touched on the fact that two
of the actresses on this list have been named the Sexiest Woman
Alive by Esquire Magazine, but the fact that
Eva Green
hasn’t yet been hailed as one of the sexiest is a
miscarriage of justice in our view. Known for movies like
Casino Royale, 300: Rise of an Empire,
Sin City: A Dame to Kill For, as well as the show
Penny Dreadful, it is abundantly clear that she makes
everything she appears in more provocative. Gorgeous in every
photo she appears in, they still pale in comparison to how she
looks onscreen as they can’t show the sultry energy she brings
to every movement, even when overcome with rage. Someone that
oozes with s*x appeal from every pore, she seems to have been
born to make the world a more seductive place and it feels like
mortal people like you or me might wilt under her gaze.

15 Films No One Expected To Exist In The ‘Back To The Future’ Universe

We talk a lot about shared universes in film. It’s one of the
most exciting exercises to try and link up various films
together in a timeline or a universe. We hear of the big ones
like the Tarantinoverse and the View Askewniverse, but we never
hear about the Back to the Future Universe. Now, if
you’re thinking that this has anything to do with
BTTF‘s twisted timeline or the paradoxes, it doesn’t.
This is all about films that connect directly to Back to
the Future
. We want to show how the Back to the
Future
franchise may actually be the hub or the connective
tissue that links these 15 different films together.

So, what do we mean by connected? Well, we are considering
every moment that an object or a character from one film
appears in another film. This is a necessary link because it
tells us that the films are close to each other in proximity.
Some characters appear in multiple films played by different
actors, but we aren’t counting those because the connections
might never end. Some directors like to connect their films
into one universe, and the Back to the Future universe
benefits from that. Still, there are 15 films on this list and
two thirds are directed by different directors, so there are
plenty of people and moving parts involved. Is this
intentional? No. Does that matter? No. BTTF fans know
just how important this film franchise is, but we could have
never expected it to be the center of such a massive universe.
This is a universe that goes far beyond what we’ve outlined
here, but we just wanted to show the most concrete examples.
Here are 15 Films That No One Expected to Exist in the ‘Back to
the Future’ Universe.

15. The Polar Express

Some naysayers like to write off the connection between
The Polar Express and Back to the
Future
as nothing more than Easter eggs in two
Robert Zemeckis
films, but that’s baloney. Not only do we
see evidence that Lone Pine Mall exists in the
The Polar Express world (seen in a
photograph), but we’re willing to bet that the train, The Polar
Express, is the same train as the one in Back to the Future
III
. Sure, there’s been some adjustments made to it, but
the thing has a flux capacitor. Besides, the last time we saw
Doc Brown, he was on a train that could travel through time.
They have to be the same trains. There are several other
references that don’t really amount to much, but if both Lone
Pine Mall and the flux capacitor both exist in The Polar
Express
world, then The Polar Express is
part of the Back to the Future Universe. Take that to
the bank.

14. Blade Runner

In Back to the Future II, we got of glimpse of the
then-future year of 2015. Zemeckis was smart not to make that
future so radically different from our own in case he was
caught looking silly when the future actually came and it was
underwhelming (at least in terms of flying cars). Well, the
future came and it wasn’t so far off. Sure, even
BTTF‘s future was a bit far-fetched, but it wasn’t bad
compared to Blade Runner. In
Ridley Scott
‘s Blade Runner, the year was
2019 so things could still change. But it’s unlikely that we
develop replicants in the next couple of years. Nope. Even
though we’re not there yet, we can safely say that that film’s
projection of the future will miss the mark. Still, it’s an
incredible film and has created some really iconic imagery,
perhaps none more memorable than the cars, Spinners. In what
many argue was just a homage to Blade Runner (or
trying to save on costs), Zemeckis placed a few Spinners in
Back to the Future II. Though this connection can be
debated, including those cars in the world, it unintentionally
joined the two film worlds together. If you’re trying to place
the Spinners, we see one parked in a driveway and another
parked on the street, visible during the hoverboard chase
scene.

13. Alien & Prometheus

If Back to the Future and Blade Runner are
linked, we know at least two other members of the universe as
well—Prometheus and Alien. Although these are
two separate films, they’re part of the same franchise so we’ll
treat them as the same instead of counting each film
separately. That would feel like cheating to boost the number
of films. Long before Prometheus was released, people
assumed that Alien and Blade Runner were in
the same universe. Well, Prometheus came out and
confirmed that assumption by suggesting that the Replicants in
Blade Runner were essentially an early variation of
the androids from Alien, or at least an inspiration.
We also learned that the Weyland Corp. from Alien was
built in the wake of the Tyrell Corporation’s mistakes in
Blade Runner. Obviously, these films also have the
Ridley Scott connection, so it’s a straightforward link.

12. Predator II

Maybe the most obvious connection on this list is between the
Alien and Predator franchises. Everyone knows
that AVP brought these two film franchises together
officially, but many forget that Predator II was
actually the first film to connect these worlds together
(technically the comics did it first). At the end of
Predator II, the main character enters the trophy room
of the Predator ship and discovers a collection of skulls from
its various kills. One of the most identifiable skulls is that
of a xenomorph, the aliens from the Alien franchise.
This means that Predators have encountered xenomorphs before,
which also means that they exist alongside Back to the
Future
as well.

11. Serenity

Technically, the connections we’re using here are from the
television show, Firefly, but the show also had a
film, Serenity, which works as well since they both
exist in the same universe. In the very first episode of
Firefly, we catch a glimpse of a familiar name and
logo. During a fight scene in which Mal is using a turret, the
HUD of this weapon displays a Weyland-Yutani logo. If you’ve
already forgotten, Weyland-Yutani is the company from
Alien and Prometheus. We also hear
Weyland-Yutani’s slogan, “building better worlds,” at one
point. The creator of Firefly and Serenity,

Joss Whedon
is a massive Alien fan and even tried
his hand (unsuccessfully) to pen an Alien script at
one point, so it makes sense that he would piggyback on this
universe. He probably didn’t expect to ever be connected
to BTTF though.

10. Soldier

Soldier is a film that had all the promise in the
world, but it never amounted to much. That being said, it’s a
very large player in the BTTF universe. The truth
behind the connection is that David Webb Peoples was the
screenwriter for both Blade Runner and
Soldier. It’s because of him that Soldier is
connected to Blade Runner and the larger universe,
specifically in the mention that
Kurt Russell
‘s character fought in the battles of
Tannhauser Gate and Shoulder of Orion, two locations mentioned
in Blade Runner, and that he was also trained in
weaponry used in Alien. Like Back to the
Future
, Soldier also has a Spinner show up in one
scene, though this one is not in working condition.
Soldier is also an important film for our next
entry.

9. Star Trek II: The Wrath Of Khan

Even though Soldier is connected to several different
films, its greatest claim to fame in terms of this list is that
it brings Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan into the
universe. In Soldier, again seen in Kurt Russell’s
file, we see the locations “Nibian Moon” and “Antares
Maelstrom.” These are both from Star Trek II: The Wrath of
Khan
. There’s nothing that helps form a cinematic universe
like a tangible location to hang your hat on, so this is a
great discovery. This would also imply that all of the Star
Trek
franchise films are part of the BTTF world,
but that’ll be an entirely different piece if and when we
attempt to expand this universe.

8. A Million Ways To Die In The West

Seth MacFarlane
‘s wild west story has probably already been
forgotten by most people. It was an alright film. There was
nothing particularly memorable about it, but it wasn’t a total
disaster. There were a few scenes that come to mind when
looking back though, and two of them have to do with this
universe. One had to do directly with Doc Brown. That’s right.
If you haven’t seen the film or have forgotten about it,
MacFarlane’s character stumbles in on Doc Brown while he’s
working on the DeLorean. It’s a pretty comical encounter
because MacFarlane reacts like we imagine someone would react
in the old west if they walked in on that strange man and
machine. Obviously, we’re to assume that this encounter takes
place during Back to the Future III, which then places
these two films next to each other in the universe. There’s
another famous film character that appears in A Million
Ways to Die in the West.
Our next entry.

7. Django Unchained

Throughout A Million Ways to Die in the West,
there’s a shooting contest game unlike the one in Back to
the Future
. This game has a large part to play in the main
storyline. Well, at the end of the film, a new challenger comes
in to test his shooting ability in the game, Django. It’s here
that Django Unchained reveals itself as another film
in the BTTF universe. Clearly, anytime a
Quentin Tarantino
movie is in your universe, there’s going
to be others that connect as well. While we acknowledge the
connections between the multiple sections of the Tarantinoverse
and the cigarettes and burgers that connect basically all of
the films, we’ll only focus on a couple links with true
tangible connections.

6. Shaft

Before we delve too deeply into the Tarantinoverse, one
interesting connection that Tarantino himself dropped on the
world is that Django is an ancestor of John Shaft from the
Shaft films. To nail down this link, Tarantino named
Django’s wife Broomhilda Von Shaft. Tarantino explained the
relation in this way, “Her and Django will eventually have a
baby, and then that baby will have a baby, and that baby will
have a baby, and that baby will have a baby, and that baby will
have a baby … and one of these days, John Shaft will be born.”
Magic! Some people have dismissed this link as nothing more
than a joke, but we feel pretty good about it.

5. Kill Bill II

When it comes to connecting to Django Unchained to the
rest of the universe, the big film is Kill Bill II.
The reason these films are connected, for the uninitiated, is
because Beatrix Kiddo (Uma
Thurman
) is buried alive in the grave of
Christoph Waltz
‘ wife from Django Unchained.
Seriously. The grave that she’s put in is marked as the “Paula
Schultz.” Waltz’ character is named Dr. King Schultz and we
know he had a wife. Does this seem far-fetched? Well, Tarantino
did confirm this connection if that kind of thing matters to
you. Kill Bill also has the appearance of the famous
Tarantino characters Earl McGraw and his son, Edgar. Earl and
Edgar are the two cops investigating the Two Pines Chapel
massacre that Beatrix was targeted in. This is important
because these men are the key to a larger universe
connection.

4. From Dusk Till Dawn

The first time we ever met one of the McGraws was in From
Dusk Till Dawn.
In this film, we only met Earl. Later in
the sequel, we would meet his son, Edgar. But back then, it was
just Earl and Earl didn’t last long. Very early into his first
film appearance, Earl was shot in the head. So you’re wondering
how he survived? Well, apparently, these films in the
Tarantinoverse are just movies within movies. In other words,
Earl is just a character in a movie, whereas the guys from
Inglourious Basterds are in the “realer than real”
Tarantinoverse. Interestingly, the McGraws are the only
characters that we’ve ever seen travel between these two
Tarantinoverses. Our next entry is the film that they traveled
to.

3. Grindhouse Films

The two Grindhouse films, Planet Terror and
Death Proof, are great films to just turn on and turn
off your brain. We’re excited that the McGraw family made an
appearance in these films because we want them to be part of
the universe. Truth be told, they are a lot more central to
these films than just making “an appearance.” In both films,
the McGraws play large roles in the stories and we meet more
members of their family, including Earl’s daughter, Dakota, and
his wife, Ramona. The Grindhouse double feature is
also important for bringing us Machete for the first
time. Even though we only see Machete as a fake movie
trailer in the film, it hints at a larger connection, one that
would be explored later. This connection alone is not good
enough to suggest that these films are in the same universe. If
anything, it makes the connection more complicated and
doubtful.

2. Machete

As we explained, Machete is linked to this universe.
But it’s done so in a unique way, at least in terms of this
list. The connection comes in a deleted scene. Typically, we
wouldn’t want to accept a deleted scene because some deleted
scenes are filmed for fun and are fully intended to be deleted.
This scene, however, was cut for time. The scene in question
has Edgar McGraw kissing Sartana’s sister from
Machete. Even though Tarantino has said that the
McGraws can travel between real and fake universes, we can only
accept what our eyes tell us. In this BTTF universe,
it’s the McGraw brothers who are the most important in relation
to Tarantino’s films.

1. Spy Kids

One of the best things about the McGraws being able to move
between the two distinct Tarantinoverses, is not that we get
Machete. To be honest, we’re more excited about the
Spy Kids connection. In case you were unaware, the
kids’ uncle in Spy Kids is none other than Machete
himself. That means that in a weird, twisted, and almost
backward kind of way, Spy Kids and Back to
the Future
are in the same universe. Maybe even weirder,
Spy Kids and Alien are in the same universe.
Really, Spy Kids with any of the films on this
list seems odd. That’s why we were so excited to see this
connection become a thing. Happy trails travelers.
